Hello!

I am Sonja Kinnunen, entrepreneur of Suomäki sleddogs. 

I was born in 1991 and grew up surrounded by dogs all my life. I am also a family nurse and a mother of three young boys. 

Our pack of Suomäen ulvojat currently includes two German shepherds, two Siberian huskies and one corgi. There is also a cat who keeps the dogs in the house. Dogs are family members to us and they mainly live inside our house, in a large fenced yard, and can go outside freely. Important principles for me with dogs are individuality and good treatment and care. 

I do different sports with dogs in addition to pulling sports. Rally-Toko and Toko are done with German shepherds, BH test and RTK1 were performed with my oldest dog in 2023. 

For me, nature has always played a big role in my life, I have gained strength from nature even in difficult moments of everyday life and even experienced those moments as truly therapeutic and empowering. At times, my physical condition has been challenging. In 2017, I went through a flesh-eating bacteria, after which I learned to walk again. As a result of this, I have been surgically amputated three times, and I was left with a circulatory disorder and constant support stocking treatment. 

At the end of 2020, I fractured my symphysis joint, which is why I underwent pelvic ossification surgery in 2023, which fortunately was successful, as I regained my movement ability after rehabilitating from the surgery. The dogs and of course my own will to keep moving have always gotten me back on my feet without getting stuck in place. 

Walking with dogs is my favorite form of exercise and I feel that exercise comes "accidentally". 

I jog with the dogs on foot, kick and fat bike, sled, in winter also snowshoe, not forgetting summer swimming.

It has been wonderful to be able to enjoy life with dogs in every season and now I want to offer even a small piece of it to others.
